Job summary

Sanford Health in Bemidji, MN is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist to obtain specimens and perform testing with accuracy and safety. You will collect blood and other samples from patients at hospital, clinic, and nursing home sites, document patient information, and follow asepsis and safety protocols.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED; completion of a phlebotomy program is preferred, along with prior hospital or lab experience and BLS certification if required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous work experience in a medical setting is beneficial.
• Basic knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred.
• May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Obtain laboratory specimens for processing and perform tests in a professional manner.
• Collect blood and specimen samples from hospital, clinic and nursing home patients.
• Record and document patient information accurately.
• Follow procedures and safety regulations; apply asepsis techniques during phlebotomy.
• Communicate with patients and answer questions about phlebotomy procedures.
