Aufgaben

• Collect blood specimens from in-patients and out-patients and place specimens in the appropriate departments.
• Print Outstanding Orders reports and respond to listed specimens.
• Follow collection manual procedures for patient identification and labeling tubes.
• Prepare urine containers for collection and instruct patients on collection methods.
• Order tests, receive specimens in the computer, and label specimens from both in-house and outside sources.
• Adhere to infection control procedures and isolation precautions.
• Assist in clerical duties including registration, charges, scanning, indexing and printing results.
• Maintain stock and place supplies where needed.
• Keep work areas and collection tray clean and sanitary.
• Answer telephone calls promptly and professionally.
• Under supervision, assist technical personnel with simple procedures when asked.
• Orient new phlebotomists to procedures and environment.
• Maintain good relations with patients, staff, and physicians.
