  • 1 year phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience required.

  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record if applicable.

Phlebotomy Technician – Shakopee, MN, Monday – Friday with Rotational Weekends (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM)

The Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for accurately performing and processing Point of Care Testing (POC), venous and capillary blood collection from adults, infants, and children and all related functions.

Pay range: $23.00 – $28.00 per hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Essential Generic Job Functions
  • Collect blood and/or perform POC as assigned.
  • Cleans and re‑stocks POC supplies and prepares phlebotomy carts/trays.
  • Assists coworkers with draws and POC testing.
  • Draws venous or capillary blood from newborn through geriatric patients using proper aseptic collection techniques.
  • Draws and delivers (where applicable) all blood work (stat, timed, routine) within established departmental policy time frames.
  • Draws venous and capillary blood into proper tubes and culture vials according to the purpose for which the blood is to be tested.
  • Performs and processes all POC tests on patients ranging from newborn to geriatrics.
  • Completes clerical functions associated with POC testing documents.
  • Reports incidents/issues regarding patients or employees timely to group leader or supervisor.
  • Reports supply needs and equipment defects in a timely fashion.
  • Logs refrigerator temperatures daily and reports deviations to group leader or supervisor.
  • Travels and performs phlebotomy duties and POC testing, as needed, at health fairs and PSA testing sites and delivers specimens to laboratory.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (e.g., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired). This includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational/literacy, etc.).
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the clinic's Organizational Competencies.

Physical Requirements
  • Lift light to moderately heavy objects. The normal performance of duties may require lifting. Objects 1–15 lb are lifted frequently; 16–25 lb occasionally; 26–40 lb seldom; objects >41 lb require assistance.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time; requires long hours of eye and hand coordination.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand frequently throughout the day.
  • Position requires travel.
