Job summary

Reid Health is seeking a phlebotomist to collect blood and specimens in an inpatient setting during a night shift. The role requires accurate patient identification and proper labeling, with a focus on preanalytical integrity.

Responsibilities include following standard collection techniques, documenting times and identities, performing routine blood draws promptly, handling stat orders quickly, collecting non-blood specimens, managing supplies, and maintaining logs.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify patient by first name, last name, and date of birth and verify against orders.
• Follow all proper collection techniques as defined by policy.
• Document time drawn and identity of collector on all specimens.
• Complete routine blood draws within five minutes.
• Respond to stat orders, obtaining the specimen within 10 minutes.
• Collect non-blood specimens following proper protocols.
• Perform inventory of supplies and restock as necessary.
• Order tests appropriately.
• Complete maintenance logs as required by policy.
• Centrifuge specimens and process as necessary based on location worked.
• Utilize communication devices, including headsets as appropriate.

Job description

Schedule: Night Shift Inpatient, 36 hours, (3) 12 hour shifts, 1600-0430, rotating holidays and weekends. Must pick up two 4 hour on call shifts weekly.
