Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Formal phlebotomy certification strongly preferred; clinical rotation/externship valued.
• One year of phlebotomy experience encouraged; technical proficiency with standard procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collection procedures and venipuncture; maintain log sheets.
• Verify order requests and identify information prior to drawing blood.
• Label specimens and deliver to processing area.
• Handle specimen processing and send-out tasks including accessioning, centrifugation and packaging.
• Pickup and deliver blood and lab supplies as needed.

A caregiver in this position works days, 4:00am—12:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Perform blood collection procedures, follow venipuncture procedures and maintain appropriate log sheets.
• Verify order requests and identify information prior to drawing blood or collecting the specimen/kit.
• Label all specimens collected and deliver them to the appropriate processing area.
• Perform specimen processing and send out tasks, including accessioning, centrifugation and packaging.
• Pick up and deliver blood, other sample types and lab supplies.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Technical proficiency with standard procedures, techniques and common practices
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a team environment

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Formal Phlebotomy Certification
• Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy program with a clinical rotation/externship
• One year of Phlebotomy experience

Physical Requirements:

• Requires frequent and long durations of standing and walking.
• Visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $17.95

Maximum hourly: $25.50
