Job summary

Prime Healthcare in Blue Springs, MO, seeks a detail-oriented Phlebotomy Technician to join the Clinical Lab. You will draw blood, label specimens, and prepare samples for testing, ensuring patient comfort and safety. The role supports physicians with accurate diagnostics and requires strict adherence to procedures.

Part-time, days shift, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Experience in phlebotomy and a current BCLS certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current BCLS (AHA) certificate preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for blood draws, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the process.
• Responsible for correct blood collection, drawing blood from patients using venipuncture, capillary puncture, or other techniques, ensuring proper identification and labeling of specimens.
• Organize, handle, and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing, ensuring all specimens are properly processed and stored; adhere to quality control and safety protocols.
• Maintain and calibrate phlebotomy equipment and supplies, ensure everything is in working order, and properly sanitized.
• Perform more complex or specialized phlebotomy procedures as required, often with minimal supervision.
