Job summary

Huntsville Hospital Health System is seeking a phlebotomist to perform venipunctures, finger sticks, and specimen collection under supervision in a fast-paced lab setting. This role also processes lab reports and assists with charting results.

It includes clerical tasks such as running daily reports, assisting out-patients, taking orders from the computer, stocking supplies, and keeping work areas clean and organized.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• Perform phlebotomy procedures including veni-punctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, bleeding times, urine and drug screen collections.
• Process reference lab reports and sort/chart lab results.
• Assist in clerical duties: run daily reports, assist out-patients, take orders from computer, stock supplies and clean work areas.

Overview

The phlebotomist works under the immediate supervision of the Medical Technologist/Technician, is primarily responsible for the phlebotomy procedures, including veni-punctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, bleeding times, urine collection and drug screen collections. The phlebotomist is also responsible for processing in the reference lab reports and for sorting/charting various lab results. The phlebotomist is expected to assist in certain clerical duties, such as running daily reports, assisting with the out-patients, taking orders off of the computer, putting up supplies and cleaning their trays and any work area.
