Job summary

Huntsville Hospital in Alabama is seeking a phlebotomist to perform phlebotomy procedures under the supervision of Medical Technologist/Technician, and to assist with processing and charting lab results. Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy procedures including veni-punctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, bleeding times, urine collections and drug screen collections.
• Process reference lab reports and sort/chart lab results as part of daily workflow.
• Assist with clerical duties such as running daily reports, helping outpatients, taking orders from the computer, stocking supplies and cleaning work areas.

Job description

The phlebotomist works under the immediate supervision of the Medical Technologist/Technician, is primarily responsible for the phlebotomy procedures, including veni-punctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, bleeding times, urine collection and drug screen collections. The phlebotomist is also responsible for processing in the reference lab reports and for sorting/charting various lab results. The phlebotomist is expected to assist in certain clerical duties, such as running daily reports, assisting with the out-patients, taking orders off of the computer, putting up supplies and cleaning their trays and any work area.
