Job summary

Labcorp in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Phlebotomy Supervisor to lead a team of phlebotomists and directly impact the patient/client experience. You will manage patient flow, scheduling, payroll and performance appraisals while ensuring high-quality service.

The role requires phlebotomy experience and leadership capabilities, with opportunities to collaborate across departments and support expansion of patient service centers. Monday–Friday schedule with occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year experience as phlebotomist.
  • 6+ years experience as a phlebotomist preferred; 3+ years in supervisory roles preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of phlebotomists in Patient Service Centers and/or physician offices.
  • Manage patient flow, wait times, inventory levels and information logs.
  • Monitor monthly productivity and report deviations as necessary.
  • Coordinate phlebotomists' schedules and staffing needs.
  • Oversee payroll, monthly schedules and performance appraisals.
  • Collaborate with HR on employee relations issues and disciplinary actions.
  • Hire and train phlebotomists to fill open positions.
  • Maintain clear communication with patients, client offices, sales, logistics and management.
  • Provide exceptional service to patients and clients.
  • Assist in establishing new Patient Service Centers or Client Offices.
  • Resolve patient or client issues promptly.
  • Perform specimen collection when needed and travel to additional sites as required.

Labcorp is seeking a Phlebotomy Supervisor to join our team in Alexandria, VA. As a Phlebotomy Supervisor you will lead a team of Phlebotomists and directly impact the Patient/Client experience. You will manage and oversee all aspects of our LabCorp patient service centers and designated client locations. This role emphasizes your ability to lead, inspire, and develop others. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 5:00am - 8:00pm with occasional Saturdays, hours may vary upon location.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of 20+ phlebotomists working in Patient Service Centers and/or physician's offices
  • Manage patient flow, wait times, and inventory levels and information logs
  • Monitor monthly productivity and report any deviations as necessary
  • Coordinate phlebotomists' schedules through resourceful and creative thinking
  • Perform operational duties such as payroll, monthly schedules and performance appraisals
  • Partner with Human Resources regarding employee relations issues and disciplinary actions
  • Hire and train phlebotomists to fill any open positions
  • Communicate effectively to internal and external customers including patients, client office staff, sales team, logistics and senior management
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patients and clients
  • Assist in the set-up of new Patient Service Centers or Client Offices
  • Provide resolution of any patient or client issues
  • Perform, collect and prepare specimens when needed
  • Travel to additional sites as necessary
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • 1 year or more of experience as a phlebotomist
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 years or more experience as a phlebotomist
  • 3 years or more with phlebotomy managerial or supervisory or team leader experience
Additional Job Standards
  • Phlebotomy certification or completed training program from an accredited agency or previous experience as a phlebotomist
  • Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Have a Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record with reliable transportation
  • Be at least 21 years’ old
Pay Range

$55,000 - $90,000 annually

  • Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
  • Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
