Job summary

Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA is accepting applications for a phlebotomy specialist to join our busy laboratory team. You will collect specimens from inpatients and outpatients and ensure proper ordering, cancellation, and billing processes while maintaining patient comfort and safety.

The ideal candidate has formal phlebotomy training, a health-science degree or related certification, and color- acuity screening.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED or post-secondary education.
Clinical training in an approved phlebotomy training program.
Two-year degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or a health-related specialty.
Two years’ experience in specimen collections, specimen processing and specimen requisitioning for a clinical laboratory or health care delivery system.
Clinical training in a Northside Hospital Lab, as part of the clinical rotations needed for education requirements (high school or college level).
Hold a valid, verifiable Phlebotomy Certification
All applicants must submit to and pass a Color-Acuity screening Test.

Responsibilities

Handle laboratory data collection systems and equipment to ensure that requests for laboratory tests are properly ordered, cancelled, and charged.
Perform specimen collection procedures for inpatients and outpatients.
Perform non-technical specimen processing, preparation and distribution of specimens from patients.
