Job summary

Doctors Hospital of Williamsburg is seeking a Laboratory Support Tech I to perform routine laboratory specimen collections and handling, ensure proper labeling, and explain collection procedures to patients and staff. The role supports the Laboratory Supervisor and may travel to off-site locations.

The position emphasizes accuracy, safety, and compliance with CAP, DNV, CLIA, and OSHA standards, along with QA/QI activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
• Phlebotomy or lab specimen training program (preferred).
• Direct patient care and/or phlebotomy experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs routine laboratory specimen collection and handling per orders, ensuring correct containers, volumes and labeling.
• Maintains accurate patient identification, labeling and documentation; communicates with staff and patients as needed.
• Adheres to safety guidelines, PPE use and quality assurance procedures; supports QA/QI activities.
• Assists in training new personnel and may travel to off-site locations for specimen collection.
