Job summary

MountainView Hospital in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a Phlebotomist/Laboratory Assistant to perform venipuncture and specimen collection across inpatient and outpatient populations. You will handle specimen processing, front-lab duties, and ensure compliance with lab policies.

The role requires a valid Phlebotomy certificate, NV certification eligibility, and strong communication. CPR is preferred and familiarity with Meditech is beneficial.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certified by the State of Nevada as a Laboratory Assistant or eligible to apply.
• Valid Phlebotomy certificate.
• Formal Medical Assistant training or accredited phlebotomy program preferred.
• Excellent communication skills required.
• Medical terminology and computer knowledge expected.
• CPR certification preferred.
• 6 months of clinical lab experience preferred or recent graduate of phlebotomy program.

Responsibilities

• Specimen collection of blood, blood culture and other body fluids from neonatal to geriatric patients.
• Process specimens, handle sends-out, and fax results per hospital policy.
• Assist front-of-lab duties: admitting, filing, greeting patients, answering phones.
• Prepare specimens for reference lab couriers; maintain stock of drawing carts and room.
• Maintain lab environment cleanliness and operate Meditech and other lab equipment.
• Adhere to established policies and procedures in performing duties.
