Labette Health is seeking a dependable Phlebotomist / Lab Assistant to join our laboratory team in Independence, Kansas. The role involves performing venipunctures, labeling and processing specimens, and preparing samples for testing or reference labs.

The ideal candidate maintains a calm, compassionate demeanor, pays close attention to detail, and can work independently or as part of a team. Certification is a plus; previous experience is preferred but not required. EOE.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certification a plus.
• Previous phlebotomy or clinical experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Calm, compassionate demeanor with patients.
• EOE.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures on patients of all ages.
• Accurately label and process specimens.
• Prepare samples for in-house testing or send-out to reference labs.
• Assist with specimen tracking and documentation in the EMR.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and adhere to infection control standards.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, nursing units, and clinic staff.
• Support lab operations as needed.
