HOURS: Part Time (20 hours/week) Lab Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 3 pm-7 pm. Every 3rd Saturday rotation 5:45 am-Noon. Every 4th Sunday rotation 8:45 am-1 pm. No Holidays.

Summary:

  1. Provides complete and accurate patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, ordering of tests, and coordination of applicable screening, diagnostic, physician office, and outpatient hospital services. Capable of coordinating and communicating effectively during increased volumes or with complex patients. This position requires clinical skills in phlebotomy, EKG, holter monitors, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection. Maintains required competency skills.
  2. Qualified individuals must have the ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform the following duties:

Phlebotomy: Performs venipuncture and capillary specimen collection in an ambulatory setting, validates patient identity, specimen integrity, and maintains knowledge of specimen requirements and clinical protocols, documents all stages of specimen collection in computer systems, and maintains clinical skills.
  4. Registration: Performs complete and accurate patient registration, supports high-volume and high-acuity situations, manages inbound and outbound calls, verifies insurance coverage, and manages electronic and manual verification processes. Prepares and releases records, completes work queues, communicates with patients about financial obligations, and supports Point of Service Collections.
  5. Additional clinical procedures such as EKG, holter monitors, 24 hr blood pressure or vital signs.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of educational requirements with ongoing competency evaluations.
  • CPR Certification - American Heart Association BLS required within 30 days of hire.
  • One year of clerical, customer service, or administrative support experience in a highly customer-oriented organization.
  • One year experience with basic keyboarding, PC use, and office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous phlebotomy or registration experience (training provided upon hire).
  • One year of Epic or equivalent Electronic Medical Record experience.
