Job description

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Our application system will be unavailable starting Friday, April 19 until Monday, April 29. We are transitioning to a new recruitment platform.

Under general supervision, responsible for providing phlebotomy services for the phlebotomy team.

Job Duties:
  1. Properly identifies patient according to policy, draws blood samples, labels specimens and sends to laboratory for analysis.
  2. Maintains records of tests performed and samples taken.
  3. Generates patient collection lists and labels, ensures the correct tests are collected by using inquiry mode, verifying collection of all specimens, and labels STATS with stickers.
  4. Checks collection batches and overdue lists frequently and ensures that all orders are promptly collected.
  5. Performs special tests to include clotting time, bleeding time and glucose tolerance tests as needed and reports results.
  6. Inventories supplies, equipment and requisitions as needed.
  7. Stocks workstation with necessary supplies.
  8. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education:

High school diploma or GED is required.

Experience:

One (1) year experience drawing blood specimens; or, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved is required.
