Responsibilities

- Ensure that the company philosophy and core values are evident in the service delivered to customers.

- Assure quality of work performed by all associates. Coordinate services to customers to provide satisfaction and cost-efficient operations.
- Ensure compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, infection control, safety, and other standards, including privacy and security of health information (PHI).
- Maintain collection tray/container/bag and working area in a neat and sanitary condition; restock as necessary.
- Procure supplies for the department in cooperation with the team lead.
- Perform all duties of a phlebotomist; specimen collection, receiving, and send-outs.
- Prepare specimens for referral to outside labs, including ordering tests, packaging, calling for cab, referral paperwork, and mailing.
- Perform all patient specimen collections including venipuncture, capillary, urine drug screens, skin tests, blood, throat, and NP cultures.
- Ensure specimen requirements are met at collection and maintain specimen integrity.
- Communicate effectively with customers, patients, family members, nurses, physicians, clients, and co-workers.
- Operate the laboratory computer system for documentation and other tasks.
- Perform other related duties as assigned (stand-by/on-call, inventory, projects, cross-training, etc.).
- Complete performance evaluations and competency assessments timely.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Completion of a Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory, or Medical Assistant program that includes phlebotomy preferred.
- Familiar with medical terminology, data entry, organizational skills.
- One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Certification from a National Accredited Program preferred.
