Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Phlebotomist Technician - PRN at the Beachwood Family Health and Surgery Center. The role involves performing blood collection, labeling, and transporting specimens within the Lab FHC Support Services-Diagnostics Institute team.

You will work a day/evening rotation with shifts from 4:00pm-8:00pm or 12:00pm-4:30pm, contributing to high-quality patient care while leveraging educational and professional development resources offered by Cleveland Clinic.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical proficiency with standard phlebotomy procedures and practice.
• Formal phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy program with clinical rotation/externship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collection procedures and venipuncture following venipuncture guidelines.
• Verify order requests and patient information prior to drawing blood.
• Label all specimens and deliver to the appropriate processing area.
• Perform specimen processing and send-out tasks including accessioning, centrifugation and packaging.
• Pick up and deliver blood, other samples and lab supplies.
• Float to multiple locations as needed.

As Phlebotomy Technician, you are an integral member of the Medical Laboratory Team. Many patients often find needles and the idea of having their blood drawn frightening. A PRN caregiver in this position works day /evening rotation| 4:00pm-8:00pm or 12:00pm-4:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Perform blood collection procedures, follow venipuncture procedures and maintain appropriate log sheets.
• Verify order requests and identifying information prior to drawing blood or collecting the specimen/kit.
• Label all specimens collected and deliver them to the appropriate processing area.
• Perform specimen processing and send out tasks, including accessioning , centrifugation and packaging.
• Pick up and deliver blood, other sample types and lab supplies.
• Float to multiple locations.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High school diploma or GED
• Technical proficiency with standard procedures, techniques and common practice s

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Formal phlebotomy certification
• Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy program with a clinical rotation/externship

Physical Requirements:

• Requires frequent and long durations of standing and walking.
• Visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
