Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a Phlebotomist for a StaffFlex contract in Parker, CO. The role is full-time, day shift with 4x8-hour shifts, Mon-Fri and rotating weekends. The position requires 1 year of phlebotomy experience and compliance with lab safety and infection control policies.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen labeling, and workflow coordination. Training and mentoring of staff may be part of daily duties; on-going opportunities for professional development and growth within

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy (venipuncture and capillary) required.
• Must read, write and speak conversational English.
• Basic computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Phlebotomy training program required/preferred; high school diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and microtainer collection accurately and efficiently.
• Transports hazardous waste following safety policies and training.
• Adheres to Chemical Hygiene and Infection Control policies.
• Prioritizes specimen receipt using first-in, first-out; urgent specimens take priority.
• Ensures specimens are labeled correctly and orders received properly.
• Maintains PPE and hand hygiene; follows safe chemical handling procedures.
• Mentors new employees and assists with training.
• Coordinates daily workload and resolves phlebotomy service issues.
• Supports leadership and provides daily workflow supervision.

Job Description:

Phlebotomist, StaffFlex contract $52.92 13 weeks Full time: Mon-Fri, rotating weekends, 4 x 8-hour shifts. Open availability to Day Shift (0630-1500) and/or 2nd shift (1200-2030) No on-call

• 1yr Phlebotomy experience (current/recent) [Required]
• Performs venipuncture and microtainer collection accurately and efficiently.
• Transports hazardous waste from the point of generation to a designated secure storage area, completing required training for proper handling and transport.
• Demonstrates understanding and adherence to the Chemical Hygiene plan and Infection Control policies.
• Prioritizes routine specimen receipt in the laboratory on a “first in – first out” basis, with stat and alert specimens prioritized before routine orders.
• Ensures specimens are correctly labeled and orders are received properly.
• Follows appropriate safety policies, including the use of PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling.
• Assists with department orientation and trains laboratory staff and students.
• Mentors new employees and ensures competency documentation is completed.
• Troubleshoots phlebotomy service concerns and coordinates daily workload assignments.
• Supports leadership with daily workflow and problem resolution.
• Serves as an example of professional phlebotomy performance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask. [Required]
• Ability and willingness to work independently as well as in a team environment. [Required]
• Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, etc. [Required]

• Completion of a phlebotomy training program [Preferred]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]
• Field of Study: Completion of a phlebotomy training program preferred

Work Experience:

• 1+ year of phlebotomy experience [Required]
• 1+ year at Adventhealth lab [Preferred]

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
