Job summary

The University of Utah Health seeks a dedicated phlebotomy technician to collect and prepare patient specimens at multiple draw sites and maintain accurate medical records. The role supports the laboratory workflow and patient care within a major academic health system.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, cheek swab collection, proper labeling, and safe transport of samples. You may perform clotting or glucose tests and document results and procedures accordingly.

Qualifications

• Six months of phlebotomy experience.
• Phlebotomy Technician certification.
• Ability to obtain, label and transport specimens and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Obtains specimens performing cheek swab technique.
• Labels samples, sends specimens to the laboratory for analysis, and completes essential records.
• Maintains record of tests performed and samples taken.
• Enters and retrieves computer data.
• Delivers samples to off-site draw locations and laboratories.
• May perform special tests such as clotting time, bleeding time, and glucose tolerance test.
• May check client picture identification and obtain photographs and fingerprints.
