Job summary

Interpath Laboratory seeks an experienced Phlebotomist/Processor to join our team. The role involves venipuncture, specimen processing, and accurate data management in a fast-paced laboratory setting.

We value excellent communication, reliability, and flexibility to cover multiple sites. A high school diploma and at least 1 year of phlebotomy experience are required, with pediatric phlebotomy preferred. Travel to different sites may be necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative duties: Providing excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring instrumentation alarms.
  • Technical responsibilities: Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types, and preparing samples for testing.
  • Accurate data management: Verifying specimen information, data entry, and proper patient identification.
  • Specimen handling: Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining integrity.
  • Compliance: Following safety protocols and HIPAA policies, participating in QA.
  • Flexibility: Covering shifts at different sites to ensure smooth operations.
  • Reliability: Maintaining punctual attendance to support team and patients.

Job description

We're seeking an experienced Phlebotomist/Processor with excellent interpersonal skills to join our team. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player committed to delivering outstanding patient care and supporting our collective goals. This position may require travel as needed for coverage.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, alternating shifts:

  • 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM
  • 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Responsibilities:
  • Administrative duties: Providing excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring for instrumentation alarms.
  • Technical responsibilities: Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening.
  • Accurate data management: Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information.
  • Specimen handling: Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.
  • Compliance: Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance.
  • Flexibility: Covering work shifts at different sites as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Reliability: Maintaining consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients.
Education & Certification:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:
  • Must have at least 1 year of hands-on phlebotomy experience
  • Pediatric phlebotomy experience is preferred
Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent communication skills; able to interact professionally with patients and team members.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple responsibilities effectively.
Physical Requirements:
  • Laboratory setting with automated equipment emitting ambient sounds.
  • High level of staff interaction in close quarters; must hear alarms to ensure timely response to safety needs.
  • Regular handling of potentially infectious samples, with required protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, face shield).
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the day.
  • Frequent bending, extended standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or overtime as needed.
OSHA Category:

This role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues, with Hepatitis-B vaccination offered to all performing these duties.
