Qualifications

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of a supervisor, the phlebotomist assumes responsibility for safely performing venipunctures and related procedures in accordance with hospital and lab department policies and procedures.

Job Functions
  1. Successfully performs venipuncture on patients of all ages.
  2. Completes phlebotomy procedures in a timely manner.
  3. Reads and reviews physician orders prior to performing procedures.
  4. Follows hospital and departmental procedures regarding patient care, infection control, and safety protocols.
  5. Performs sweat chloride tests.
  6. Documents any orders requiring clarification.
