Job summary

Odessa Regional Medical Center is seeking a Phlebotomist for a PRN position with variable hours. The role involves drawing blood from patients of all ages, verifying records and preparing specimens for analysis.

Requires independent work, strict adherence to SOPs, and accurate patient identification. The successful candidate will maintain specimen flow, support nursing staff, and train new team members as needed in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification by a nationally recognized body (ASCP preferred).
• Has knowledge of commonly collecting devices, anatomy concepts, best practice collections, and disinfection procedures.
• Has been deemed competent to work independently.
• Knowledgeable to maintain Worklist & keep up with order timeline, the quick receipt to specimens into the lab system, attesting to the patient identification / tube accuracy & general knowledge of the corrects tubes needs plus the order of draw.
• Follows instructions & is self-sufficient once deemed competent, help trains new staff & possesses team-mindedness, is an excellent lab ambassador when outside the lab & very cooperative to nursing staff.
