Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System is seeking a General Lab Women’s Phlebotomist to collect blood and other specimens using skin puncture and venipuncture techniques, as well as urine and other specialty collections. The role requires accurate specimen handling and adherence to policies.

The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Pathology, and must be able to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff while meeting established turnaround times for

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Strong communication with patients, family and medical staff.
• Able to read rate, ratio and percent; comfortable with calculators and computers.

Responsibilities

• Collect clinical lab samples including blood via skin puncture and venipuncture.
• Use and maintain mobile devices per policy.
• Meet turnaround times for STAT, AM, Timed and routine orders.
• Utilize laboratory computer system, collection lists and pending logs.
• Ensure proper collection for specimen integrity and proper handling.
