Job summary

Dignity Health - Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria, California, is seeking a Phlebotomist to competently collect blood and other patient specimens for diagnostic testing, ensuring comfort and safety.

You will identify patients, explain procedures, perform venipunctures, label/prepare specimens, and follow safety protocols and CLSI guidelines to maintain high-quality samples for laboratory analysis.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience as CPT or Lab Assistant in a clinical laboratory or outreach setting.
• Phlebotomist license (CA) required upon hire.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Process, collect, and transport specimens from patients of all ages following CLSI guidelines and lab policies.
• Complete and accurate patient and specimen identification; follow verbal and written instructions.
• Consistently enter lab tests, create collection batches, and transport specimens to the main lab; prepare reports for physicians.
• Register duties with accurate information; assist billing processes and ensure compliance of orders.
• Promote a positive image of Dignity Health through professional interactions with patients and staff.
