Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect blood and other specimens for diagnostic testing at Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria, CA. The role emphasizes patient comfort, safety, and accurate labeling for laboratory analysis.

You will identify patients, explain procedures, perform venipunctures, and ensure specimens are properly labeled and prepared following safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Must have valid California CPT I certificate.
• Must complete continuing education requirements to maintain CPT I certification.
• Three or more years of full-time laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy as needed to ensure quality patient care and timely specimen collection.
• Directs and coordinates activities of non-licensed staff when appropriate or requested.
• Operates automated chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, and microbiology analyzers under supervision by licensed personnel.
• Performs routine equipment maintenance and runs quality control and proficiency specimens as directed by licensed personnel.
• Follows written and verbal instructions exactly and completes all work promptly.
• Recognizes limitations of the non-licensed position and refers issues to licensed clinical laboratory scientists in a timely manner.
