Job summary

Memorial Health System in Marietta, OH seeks a Phlebotomist for night shift. The role collects blood samples, maintains equipment, and supports clerical tasks within a hospital lab environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood samples for analysis in all areas of the hospital on patients of all ages.
• Prioritize STAT, urgent, timed and routine orders to collect draws at appropriate times.
• Maintain stock of supplies including stocking carts and notifying supervisor if supplies need to be ordered.
• Label tubes appropriately and accurately.
• Collect Blood Bank specimens and complete Blood Bank Bracelets.
• Operate the hand held Mobilab PC efficiently.
• Troubleshoot hand held devices and printers when needed.
• Assist with training new phlebotomy employees and students.
• Clean lab equipment including carts, hand helds, and printers.
• Review and sign all electronic document control records as assigned.
• Assume all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Job Location: Marietta, OH 45750, Position Type: Flex Time, Job Shift: 12-Hour Night Shift, Job Category: Clinical Support, In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood samples, cleaning lab equipment, maintaining supplies and performing various clerical duties. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

Job Functions:

• Obtains blood samples for analysis in all areas of the hospital on patients of all ages.
• Utilizes the ability to prioritize STAT, urgent, timed and routine orders ensuring that all draws are collected at the appropriate times.

Additional requirement for Student Phlebotomist:

• Enrolled in college or adult technical training for the current/next semester required.

Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:

• Interpersonal and basic clerical skills.
• Ability to read, write and do math as generally demonstrated by a high school diploma or GED.
