  • Hours: 9:30 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
Description

The Phlebotomist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities include providing expert phlebotomy services, demonstrating excellent customer service and communication skills, and functioning as part of a team that prioritizes patient care.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform phlebotomy and lab specimen collections according to standards and policies.
  2. Use the AIDET model to communicate with patients and ensure safety.
  3. Review physician orders and enter accurate test orders.
  4. Provide post-phlebotomy patient care and communication.
  5. Process specimens promptly, ensuring sample integrity.
  6. Maintain refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA records.
  7. Operate and maintain lab equipment.
  8. Notify laboratory or physicians of specimen issues.
  9. Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to biohazard procedures.
  10. Perform clerical duties such as order entry, result verification, and inventory management.
  11. Use resources efficiently and participate in cost-reduction efforts.
  12. Complete continuing education and competency assessments.
  13. Demonstrate teamwork and professional interaction.
  14. Apply critical thinking and judgment to resolve issues.
  15. Follow ethical business practices and organizational policies.
  16. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Phlebotomy certification from a recognized organization, or training, or at least one year of healthcare phlebotomy experience, or CMA certification.

Preferred:

  • Experience with diverse patient populations.
  • Experience processing lab specimens and handling centrifuges.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
