Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection (finger and heel sticks) per policy.
• Uses two patient identifiers and labels specimens at bedside.
• Prepares, packages, and transports specimens to the lab.
• Explains procedures to patients to ensure comfort.
• Cleans, sterilizes and maintains phlebotomy equipment and workspace.
• Documents patient and specimen information in the system.
