Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection (finger and heel sticks) per policies to ensure accurate specimen collection.
• Ensures positive patient identification using two identifiers and proper labeling at bedside to prevent errors.
• Prepares, packages, and transports specimens while maintaining integrity and safety.
• Explains procedures to patients, providing reassurance and addressing concerns for a positive experience.
• Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains phlebotomy equipment and workspace per safety standards.
• Documents patient and specimen information accurately in the laboratory system.
