Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 80 hours of venipuncture and skin puncture training under supervision.
• Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Valid driver's license.
• Obtains and maintains BLS Certification.
• Ability to be a self-motivated learner and take initiative.
• Exhibits professionalism at all times.

Responsibilities

• Identifies patient before venipuncture.
• Reviews orders for accuracy before drawing blood.
• Documents orders and collects information in LIS.
• Maintains courteous, professional demeanor with patients and staff.
• Performs patient care prioritizing safety and accuracy.
• Labels and records test tubes and procedures.
• Knows color-top tube usage and blood volume requirements.
• Follows Standard Precautions at all times.
