Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking a Phlebotomist to draw blood samples for laboratory analysis. This role will be stationed at a single location and travel is not required; evening or weekend work may be needed to cover patient schedules.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, completes a phlebotomy program or has two years of phlebotomy experience, and communicates effectively in English and Spanish.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy Training program or two years phlebotomist experience required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Some evening or weekend work will be required.
• Bilingual – English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
• Able to perform venous, arterial, capillary draws on adult and pediatric/neonatal patients as per procedure and without supervision.
• Identifies patients and labels all tubes, as per policy, without mislabeling
• Draws the correct amount and in the correct tubes/preserves specimens as needed to minimize redraws
• Draws and delivers blood to the lab in a timely manner
• Follows through on collections that have been re-scheduled
• Responds to patient codes as necessary.
