Overview

Under the supervision of the Lab Blood Draw Station Supervisor within Laboratory Medicine, performs phlebotomy for patients at draw station locations. Also supports draw station operations with various office duties. Interacts positively with patients and clients.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all required information is obtained from referring physicians and providers and provided to third-party payers for reimbursement.
  • Review insurance information with patients and record it accurately in the EMR.
  • Create MR numbers for new patients and complete registration using hospital standards.
  • Update patient records and manage documentation related to laboratory services.
  • Produce ABNs, provide financial consultation, obtain signatures, and scan forms into the system.
  • Communicate clearly with patients regarding blood draw instructions, dates, times, and locations.
  • Enter comments and notes on orders to document issue resolutions.
  • Ensure all authorizations are received before specimen collection.
  • Inform patients of billing responsibilities and hospital policies, attempting to gather necessary information during service.
  • Coordinate with supervisors on authorization issues and patient information for approvals.
