Job summary

Spectrum Healthcare Resources, in partnership with Kako'o, invites a Phlebotomist to join the Fairfax Ambulatory Care Center in Fairfax, VA. Join a team serving active military, veterans, and dependents in a modern outpatient setting.

Responsibilities include performing phlebotomy to SOPs, verifying patient information, and preparing specimens for testing, with emphasis on patient comfort and accuracy. BLS required; U.S. citizenship is a must.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program leading to a nationally recognized certification (ASPT, ASCP, or equivalent).
• Six months of technical training in a clinical setting preferred.
• Minimum of one year full-time technical experience within the last three years.
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English well to communicate with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy following SOPs and applicable guidelines.
• Greet patients, verify identity, schedule appointments, and prepare specimens.
• Collect blood samples from adults and children via venipuncture or capillary puncture.
• Process and label specimens; prepare for shipment to the laboratory.
• Instruct patients on collection requirements and handle other specimen types as needed.
• Dispose of biohazardous waste and maintain safety practices.
• Support administrative duties as assigned.
