The role you’ll contribute:

The Laboratory Assistant II performs various laboratory support procedures in assigned areas, which may include phlebotomy and/or specimen processing in clinical and anatomical pathology areas. Candidates must have worked at Florida Hospital for at least six months and meet the required basic continuing education and department-specific requirements. The role involves practical knowledge of laboratory procedures and support functions, with an emphasis on outstanding customer service and respectful relationships.

  • Performs pre-analytical activities such as equipment maintenance, specimen collection, biological specimen processing, and cleaning/disinfection of equipment and spaces.
  • Maintains organized and properly supplied workspaces, stores documentation appropriately.
  • Performs post-analytical activities as needed.
  • Supports department operations, including answering phones and clerical duties.
  • Assists with special projects and in teaching new staff and students.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • 1+ years of phlebotomy lab experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of Blood Collection Program, Medical Assistant Program, or similar training.
  • 1+ years of hospital laboratory experience appropriate to the department.
  • Nationally certified in blood collection (preferred).
