Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a part-time Phlebotomist/Registration to support specimen collection, registration and processing across hospital and clinic locations. The role involves high-volume duties with substantial computer work, and clerical support to the Pathology Department.

The position requires a willingness to work 4 am shifts, four-hour shifts M-F with every third weekend, and a valid driver’s license. ASCP certification is preferred and may be pursued within the first year.

Qualifications

• Six months Phlebotomy experience strongly preferred.
• Must be able to work as early as 4 am on 1st shift.
• Most positions are four hour shifts, four hours M-F and every third weekend.
• Availability to train 1st shift M-F, full time hours for 2 weeks.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
• 50% of the work is done on a computer—orders, registration, data entry, etc.
• Ability to type 40 words per minute.
• ASCP certification for Phlebotomy (must obtain certification within one year of hire) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Working in a single assigned work area, provides specimen collection, registration and processing services to patients in the main hospital, outpatient lab draw stations, and mental health and skilled nursing facilities at off-site locations and clinics.
• High volume work, 50% of duties involve computer utilization with targets to meet.
• Provides clerical support to the Pathology Department and other duties as assigned.
