Job Description:

The Phlebotomist I is responsible for accurately collecting patient specimens for diagnostic testing in a professional medical environment. This role involves working as part of a dynamic team in settings ranging from fast-paced hospitals to high/low volume clinics. Caregivers in this position will gain valuable experience to support their career advancement.

Job Specifics:

• Hours: PRN - as needed
• Location: St. Vincent's Hospital

The Phlebotomist II is an experienced professional with advanced skills in phlebotomy and specimen processing. They may act as a Team Lead or Trainer, assist with adverse event investigations, coordinate research studies, and perform moderate complexity testing. They may also fulfill roles of Coordinator or Supervisor in their absence.

This role requires compassionate communication with patients and staff, demonstrating empathy and the ability to deescalate stressful situations. Opportunities for growth include:

Minimum Qualifications:

Phlebotomist 1:

• Basic Life Support certification (BLS)/RQI for healthcare providers
• Ability to take on-call shifts as needed
• Flexibility to work in other facilities as required
• Adherence to PPE requirements in all settings

Phlebotomist 2:

• Basic Life Support certification (BLS)/RQI for healthcare providers
• Advanced phlebotomy skills and experience in clinical settings
• Experience working under stressful conditions in team environments
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently
• Flexibility for various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights
• Ability to work at other facilities as needed
• Adherence to PPE requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years of prior phlebotomy experience or one year at Intermountain
• High School diploma or equivalent for CLIA compliance
• Previous leadership experience
