Job summary

MOREHEAD CITY TREATMENT CENTER, LLC seeks a Phlebotomy Tech to perform venipuncture, monitor urine specimen collection, and document results for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. You will enter data in the EMR and notify staff of test results, supporting OTP operations.

Responsibilities include specimen preparation, labeling, scheduling checks, ensuring accuracy, infection control, and maintaining supplies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Certification and Licensure.
• Phlebotomy certification or licensed nurse.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood specimens from patients per laboratory orders by performing venipunctures.
• Complete monitored urine collection and in house testing.
• Prepare specimens for shipment to off site laboratory.
• Communicate with and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner.
• Review the specimen collection schedule and verify and complete orders.
• Identify the patient and confirm the correct patient record.
• Monitor and resolve orders in the electronic medical record.
• Complete appropriate specimen collection forms, documenting tests performed and providing results of tests performed.
