Qualifications

• 12 months experience working as a phlebotomist with demonstrated ability to work independently
• Experience with venipuncture in inpatient settings and specimen handling
• Ability to use computer systems for patient identification and test ordering
• Knowledge of safety and regulatory procedures related to specimen transport and labeling

Responsibilities

• Safety: dispose of bio-hazardous waste and manage difficult patient situations while following safety protocols.
• Technical: identify patients, label specimens, select venipuncture sites, and ensure proper specimen collection and handling.
• Work Relationship: communicate effectively with nurses and physicians; maintain teamwork and patient service.
• Information Technology: use basic computer applications, emails, and test-ordering systems.
• Clerical: obtain required signatures, complete forms, manage records and inventory.
• Additional duties: use Sunquest/CLM tools and identify suitable veins; support high-volume lab operations in inpatient units.
