Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA is hiring a Phlebotomist for our long-term care team. You will perform skilled phlebotomy in nursing homes, collect and process specimens, label and transport to the laboratory, ensuring accurate results for physicians.

Position is full-time, Day Shift (4:00 am - 12:30 pm) with weekend and rotating holiday requirements. Must have high school or GED and strong English terminology; Nat'l Phlebotomy Certification preferred.

Qualifications

• National Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
• Technical training in Phlebotomy Program with 1 year of experience preferred.

You would be responsible for providing skilled phlebotomy in the Springfield, MA area nursing homes. Collects and processes blood and other specimens according to established policies and procedures for clinical laboratory testing to ensure accurate lab results that will assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment. In doing so, obtains needed supplies, verifies patient identification, prepares skin site, and performs venipuncture and skin puncture according to established aseptic techniques. Labels specimens and transports them to the laboratory for analysis. Your work is vital to the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients. Must have dependable transportation.
