Job summary

LifeWorks Wellness Center in Florida is seeking a compassionate Phlebotomist / Laboratory Technician to join our patient-focused clinical team for the late shift. The role emphasizes accurate testing, proper specimen handling, and clear patient instruction to collect at-home kits.

The ideal candidate will have phlebotomy certification, venipuncture experience, and strong attention to detail, with excellent communication to support patients through their testing process.

Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy certification and proven venipuncture experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years phlebotomy experience.
  • Knowledge of basic medical and laboratory terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols.
  • Compassionate, patient-focused with ability to provide emotional support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily lab schedule to minimize testing delays.
  • Collect and process blood, urine, stool, and saliva samples per protocols.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients for at-home test kits.
  • Verify patient lab orders and payments before testing.
  • Package and ship specimens to designated laboratories following guidelines.
  • Track lab samples to confirm timely delivery and analysis.
  • Maintain accurate records in the EMR system.
  • Monitor inventory of test kits and supplies.
  • Adhere to infection control and sterilization procedures.
  • Report emergencies to the Practitioner’s Assistant.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with policies.

LifeWorks Wellness Center is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Phlebotomist / Laboratory Technician to join our patient-focused clinical team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring accurate, timely laboratory testing and exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will be skilled in phlebotomy, patient instruction, and specimen handling, while maintaining a calm, empathetic presence with patients. This is for our late shift.

People travel from all over the world to see our doctors and receive our holistic treatment programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily lab schedule to ensure patients experience no delays in testing or specimen collection.
  • Collect and process blood, urine, stool, and saliva samples following established protocols.
  • Provide clear, supportive instructions to patients on how to properly collect and submit at-home test kits.
  • Verify that all patient lab orders and payments are complete prior to testing.
  • Package and ship specimens to designated laboratories following all safety and mailing guidelines.
  • Track all lab samples to confirm timely delivery, receipt, and analysis by outside laboratories.
  • Maintain accurate records of all patient interactions, tests, and specimen shipments in the EMR system.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory to ensure test kits and supplies are adequately stocked and within expiration.
  • Adhere to infection control standards, following daily cleaning and sterilization protocols.
  • Report patient emergencies or concerning indicators immediately to the Practitioner’s Assistant.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all practice policies and health regulations.
Qualifications
  • Phlebotomy certification and proven experience performing venipuncture required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience.
  • Knowledge of basic medical and laboratory terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to follow protocols.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused, with the ability to provide emotional support to those experiencing illness.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2years experience in healthcare or lab setting.
  • Excellent communication and patient service skills.
  • Proficient in EMR, Word, and Excel; typing speed of 40 WPM.
Language Skills:
  • Must speak English. Must have excellent communication skills, making patients feel comfortable and at ease.
Physical Demands of Position:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 7 hours per shift) while performing specimen collection and preparation.
  • Frequent handling of patient specimens and laboratory materials (including blood, urine, stool, and saliva).
  • Regular use of computers for data entry and lab tracking.
Hours:

Full-time, minimum of 37.5 hours per week
Monday through Friday.
Exact schedule breakdown:
Mon: 8:00am - 6:00pm.
Tues, Wed, Thurs: 10:00am - 6:00pm
Fri: 10:00am - 5:00pm
