Job summary

Fetter Health Care Network Inc. is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect and prepare blood specimens, verify requisitions, and support nursing staff. You will ensure specimen integrity and accurate documentation while following safety and regulatory procedures.

The role requires proficiency with basic computer tools, knowledge of medical terminology, and good communication with patients and staff. A high school diploma and phlebotomy certification are expected, with national certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be computer literate and able to operate Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Demonstrates problem solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the collection, labeling and preparation of blood specimens for patient testing.
• Maintain logs, filing reports and assembling charts with lab reports.
• Assist lab or nursing staff in patient care under supervisor.
• Verify test requisitions against nursing station logs.
• Obtain blood specimens by venipuncture and finger sticks.
• Maintain specimen integrity using aseptic technique and proper procedures.
• Collect therapeutic drug-monitoring assays with nursing staff.
• Track specimens by initialing, dating and noting times of collection.
• Monitor glucose levels and report results to provider.
• Perform bleeding-times tests and entry results in system.
• Maintain quality results and log appropriately.
• Follow safety, regulatory, and departmental procedures.
