Responsible for performing all the duties of a phlebotomist including specimen collection, specimen receiving, and specimen referrals.
Responsibilities

- Ensure compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, infection control, safety, and privacy standards.
- Maintain collection area in a neat and sanitary condition and restock supplies as needed.
- Procure supplies for the department in cooperation with the team lead.
- Perform all duties of a phlebotomist, including specimen collection, receiving, and send-outs.
- Prepare specimens for referral to outside labs, including ordering tests, packaging, and referral paperwork.
- Perform all patient specimen collections, including venipuncture, capillary, urine, skin tests, and cultures.
- Ensure specimen requirements are met and maintain specimen integrity.
- Communicate effectively with customers, patients, family, nurses, physicians, and colleagues.
- Operate laboratory computer systems for documentation and order entry.
- Perform other duties as assigned, such as on-call, inventory, or cross-training.
- Complete performance evaluations and competency assessments timely.
Job Requirements
Education/Skills
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Completion of a Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory, or Medical Assistant program that includes phlebotomy is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, data entry, and organizational skills.
Experience
- One year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- Certification from a National Accredited Program is preferred.
Work Schedule
- 5 days a week, 8 hours per day.
