Job Summary

Works under the supervision of lead, supervisor, senior staff, and/or clinicians within Pathology or Laboratory. Consistently creates an exceptional experience with each contact via inbound and outbound calls, online chat, email, etc. Adheres to established procedures and quality guidelines in support of Patient Access Services Center performance indicators, as well as Corporate values and codes of excellence.

Essential Functions

• Greets and communicates with caring and respect, maintaining confidentiality. Answers calls, takes messages, welcomes visitors, and provides/relays information following hospitality standards.
• Serves as a resource to patients, lab clients, and SH team members regarding specimen requirements and processing.
• Processes orders, performs computer order entry, and related activities such as registering clients, contacting providers for issue resolution, entering charges, and performing tests.
• May utilize venipuncture techniques to collect blood specimens following correct protocols, including positive patient identification.
• Receives incoming specimens, checks labeling, and routes them appropriately.
• Follows all Spectrum Health procedures and policies; may serve at multiple locations during a shift depending on the site.
• Adheres to lab safety procedures to minimize risks; reports and escalates issues as necessary.
• Is committed to improving the patient experience, including safety, quality of care, and service, aligning with the organization’s values.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; graduation from a Phlebotomy training program preferred.
• Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
• One year of relevant experience dealing with the public, preferably in medical or customer service fields, preferred.
• CRT-Phlebotomy Technician certification from NHA or similar preferred.

Weekly Hours: 20

Hours of Work: 5:30 a.m. or 7:30 a.m. start times based on location

Days Worked: Variable dayshift between Lakeview and Greenville

Weekend Frequency: Every third weekend
