Job summary

Indiana University Health in Bloomington, IN, is hiring a Phlebotomist Lab Assistant I for full-time day shifts (7am-4pm) with weekend rotation (Sat 8am-12pm). Open 24/7 labs perform extensive testing and support hospitals nationwide.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, order entry, blood component prep, and related clerical tasks; strong interpersonal and computer skills are needed to work well with teams and patients.

Qualifications

• Requires HS grad or GED-equivalent.
• Phlebotomy training with lab or science coursework preferred.
• May require Indiana driver's license and clean driving history.
• Familiarity with traffic laws in Indiana.
• Proven understanding of computers and telephone skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens by routine venipuncture.
• Enter orders and perform pre-analytic processing.
• Prepare blood components and related tasks.
• Handle phone calls and fax management.
• Assist with patient and specimen registration and delivery.
