Job summary

Indiana University Health in Lafayette seeks a phlebotomist to provide general laboratory services, including specimen collection and pre-analytic processing, with responsibilities for patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED and a phlebotomy program; computer and telephone skills, strong teamwork, and reliable driving history may be required. Full-time shifts include 6:30a–6:30p with on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical or related science preferred.
• May require a valid Indiana Operator’s license and a good driving history in the last 3 years.
• Requires working knowledge of computers.
• Requires telephone skills.
• Requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member.
• Requires ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

• Provides general laboratory services including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing of specimens and related clerical tasks.
• Incumbent may be responsible for patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens.
