Job summary

Virginia Oncology Associates in Virginia Beach is seeking a Part-Time Lab Tech (Phlebotomist) to support our outpatient lab operations. You will collect specimens, assist with testing procedures, and maintain documentation in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma and at least one year of phlebotomy experience; travel between local sites may be required. In-person role with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Overview

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunities for a Part-Time Lab Tech (Phlebotomist) to support our office located in Virginia Beach.

Employment Type: Full-Time, I n-Person

Benefits: M/D/V, Life Ins., 401(k)

Compensation Range: $20.85/hr - $25.25/hr

Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as, relevant experience, education, certifications, licensure, and skills that align with the role.

Responsibilities
  • Collects viable and appropriate specimens from patients as ordered and performs specimen analysis of all chemistry, hematology, and immunology specimens as directed.
  • Assists with testing procedures.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation including test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and checklists.
  • Sends specimens to reference labs for any testing not performed in-house. Processes incoming orders for lab testing.
  • Updates and files all daily paperwork, lab logs, and maintenance logs.
  • Operates designated laboratory equipment as directed and performs appropriate instrument maintenance as indicated.

Requires corrected vision, color perception and hearing to normal range. Requires legible handwriting.
