Job Summary

The Phlebotomist Floater, under the direction of the area supervisor, performs daily phlebotomy activities at the Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-office Phlebotomy (IOP), accurately and timely. The Floater assists with coverage of client locations as needed, requiring travel. The role involves interacting professionally with clients, patients, and PathGroup staff, performing specimen collection and processing duties following established protocols.

Essential Functions
  • Travel to client assignments within a designated region on short notice.
  • Greet customers courteously and treat all customers professionally.
  • Ensure all specimens are collected accurately and on time.
  • Explain procedures clearly and courteously, reducing patient anxiety.
  • Dispose of biohazardous materials and sharps in accordance with laws and policies.
  • Complete requisitions accurately and enter data into the computer system.
  • Research test/client information, match requisitions to specimens, and prepare samples for transport.
  • Maintain records, logs, and assist with data compilation.
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and mailing.
  • Adhere to grooming, dress code, and safety protocols, including PPE use.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and clients.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and report repairs or shortages.
  • Follow confidentiality and regulatory standards to protect sensitive information.
