Job Summary

Performs patient laboratory test specimen collections, test ordering in LIS, specimen processing, and specimen handling. Contacts providers and healthcare professionals to clarify questions about test ordering and collection. Provides a People First approach to welcoming, helping, and caring for lab patients, visitors, and the healthcare team.

Essential Functions

  • Ensures quality care for patients and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates positive, people-first attitudes and interacts effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  • Performs phlebotomy, specimen handling, processing, clerical duties, and maintains proficiency in procedures.
  • Uses PPE correctly, orders tests in LIS, confirms orders/diagnosis, and handles standing orders.
  • Logs environmental conditions and verifies equipment functionality daily.
  • Answers calls, takes messages, and addresses customer inquiries.
  • Collaborates with team members and departments to ensure patient-centered care.
  • Monitors safety and infection control standards in the work environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Relevant experience preferred; previous phlebotomy experience is a plus.
  • CRT-Phlebotomy Technician certification from NHA preferred.
