Job summary

Trinity Health is hiring Phlebotomists/Registration staff to collect specimens, register patients, and perform processing in a high-volume hospital and outpatient settings.

Positions involve 50% data entry and 50% specimen collection, with training provided during the initial month and travel between Grand Rapids area sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license.
• ASCP certification for Phlebotomy preferred; must obtain within one year of hire.
• Six months phlebotomy experience, including school.
• Must type at least 40 words per minute.
• Must be able to start as early as 4 am for first shift.
• First month will be full-time training on the hired shift.
• Every third weekend is required; 2–3 holidays per year.
• Driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between locations.
• Approximately 50% specimen collection and 50% data entry/registration work.

Responsibilities

• Provide specimen collection, registration and processing services.
• Work in the main hospital, outpatient lab draw stations, and off-site clinics.
• Support Pathology with clerical duties and related tasks.

Phlebotomist/Registration

Working in a single assigned work area, provides specimen collection, registration and processing services to patients in the main hospital, outpatient lab draw stations, and mental health and skilled nursing facilities at off-site locations and clinics. High volume work, 50% of duties involve computer utilization with targets to meet. Provides clerical support to the Pathology Department and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma.

Locations

Main Hospital Inpatient Phlebotomist: At the main hospital servicing inpatients, processing and registration of samples received from physician offices for testing.

Outpatient Health Park Phlebotomist: May be located at any outpatient draw stations around Grand Rapids; required to float to any health park when needed.

Mobile Phlebotomist: Travels daily between multiple nursing homes, corporate entities and residential facilities.
