Shift/Time Zone: Monday - Friday 6:30-4:30pm (8hr shift) Floater and a Saturday rotation
Job Description:
- The Phlebotomist III- Float represents the face of our company to patients who come to Quest Diagnostics, either as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The Phlebotomist III- Float draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
- The Phlebotomist III- Float has direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.
- The Phlebotomist III- Float provides coverage at multiple locations and roles, ensuring daily activities of the Patient Service Center, Mobile, Long Term Care, and In-Office Phlebotomy are completed accurately and on time.
- This role demonstrates leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
- Successful applicants may work in a doctor's office, patient service center, house call environment, long-term care, or as dictated by business needs.
- The candidate must be able to step in for a Phlebotomist III- Float and lead one or more Patient Service Representatives on-site.
- The role includes coaching, mentoring, instructing, and providing onboarding services to new employees and clients.
- The Phlebotomist III- Float acts as a point of contact for staff and provides input to supervisors.
- This position may focus on high complexity and high volume practices requiring outstanding phlebotomy skills, along with strong customer-facing skills including communication, problem-solving, and collaboration with various functions like Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics.
- The candidate must handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience:
- At least five years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum of three years in a Patient Service Center or In-Office Phlebotomy environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or service industries preferred.
- Keyboard and data entry experience.
